Cameraman based in Edinburgh, employed by ITN, working for ITV's Good Morning Britain covering stories all over the UK and the world. War Zones, World Cups, Royal Tours and many other less exciting assignments, like interviewing current and ex Prime Ministers have kept me busy over the years working in Breakfast Television since GMTV came on the scene back in '93 and regional TV before that. In 2009 I began to record what it is like to work, the often strange and long hours needed to bring the hard news, human interest and fluffy fun to the UK's TV screens in the morning, mostly broadcasting live.

The Garden Route.

Saturday 19th June

Our day off!

Bookseller in Greenmarket Square near to our hotel.

Mark at work in the hotel reception before we leave.

An eight hour drive from Cape Town to George with the occasional stop to eat and shoot some pretty pictures.

Ben catches some zzzzzzs. It's not all flat bed 1st class with GMTV.

It is a beautiful part of the world.

The Protea with a South African vista behind.

The sights keep coming as the sun goes down...

The very bright sun starts to dip behind the hills.

Mark's still at on his Blackberry...

..he did stop long enough to shoot me shooting the sun.

We rolled into town and rocked up at the Protea Hotel in the centre.

We could have been in the mid west of the USA.

The noise of a crowd enjoying a karaoke night spilled out on to the boardwalk from the bar next door.

We heaved the gear out of the mini bus.

When I walked in to the deserted reception Ben was on the phone.

He was speaking to the reception at another Protea hotel just outside the town.

That was where we should have been.

The kit was hauled back onboard the minibus and Michael our new driver took us to the other hotel, which was not too far, thankfully.
